Memorial Health System’s Board of Directors, administration and staff would like to wish Dr. Rick Johnson a wonderful retirement. “We wish Dr. Johnson the best, and we are thankful for his 23 years of service to Memorial Hospital and to the residents of Abilene and surrounding communities,” MHS CEO, Harold Courtois, said.

Dr. Johnson will close his practice in Abilene at the end of this week. He was recruited to Memorial Hospital from California in 1995. He has been proudly providing personalized obstetrics and gynecologic care for women ever since. He has delivered nearly 7,000 babies throughout his career, 1320 since he began in Abilene.

“The OB staff at Memorial Hospital has enjoyed working with Dr. Johnson, and we appreciate all he has done for the hospital and the community,” Memorial Hospital nurse, Holly Pomeroy, RN, said. “He has been a great educator and physician and will be missed. We wish him a happy retirement.”

“Giving birth to your baby is one of the most cherished and memorable experiences in life,” Johnson said. “But I would be remiss to fail to recognize the importance of the collaboration with the well-trained nursing staff that are always eager to learn, which resulted in the fruits of my successful career: and the nurses at Abilene Memorial Hospital take a back seat to no one. Thank you, Abilene and surrounding communities for having honored me with the privilege of having been your OB/GYN doctor.”
