“Hope for Haiti” to be Featured at Lunch Meeting

Dr. Susan Thompson, Special Delivery LLC, of Abilene, will be the guest speaker at the next Healthwise 55 luncheon. She will speak on the topic of “Hope for Haiti”. Dr. Thompson will share her experiences in Haiti as a provider, and about the culture there. Dr. Thompson grew up locally, graduating from Chapman High School in 1977 (Susan Kubin). She received her medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine, and completed her residency in Family Medicine with Obstetric Care at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

The event will be on Thursday, May 9, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Nichols Education Center (lower level of Learn & Grow Depot), 1003 N. Brady, in Abilene. The cost is $5 to cover the price of the meal. Please call Michelle McClanahan, Memorial Health System (MHS) Director of Volunteer Services, at (785) 263-6692 by noon Monday, May 6, to make a reservation.

Healthwise 55 is a luncheon and health information program hosted by the MHS Volunteer Corps. It is open to the public for individuals ages 55 and older. It includes a meal followed by a health care professional speaking on a health-related topic.
