The Memorial Health System Volunteer Corps (MHSVC) is pleased to announce Abigail Elliott and Emily Burt have each been awarded a $500 scholarship. Both students will be graduating from Abilene High School later this month. Abigail will be attending the University of Kansas in the fall, and wants to be an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) doctor. She grew up with chronic ear infections, and loved her ENT who inspired her to help people in a similar way. Emily also will be attending the University of Kansas in the fall, and plans to major in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology. She hopes to work with adult patients suffering from Alzheimer’s and dementia. The Memorial Health System Volunteer Corps presents a scholarship annually to a local high school senior who has volunteered their time within the community and plans to pursue a career in health care.
