Hospice Recognizes Volunteers for Service

Hospice of Dickinson County recognized and thanked its volunteers during an annual banquet held recently as part of National Hospice Month in November.

Those in attendance were welcomed to the banquet, and Ken King gave the Invocation. Following the meal, prepared by Mr. K’s Farmhouse Restaurant, special guests were recognized. The End of the Trail Quilters Guild was recognized and thanked for providing a quilt for each Hospice of Dickinson County patient.

Carol Whitehair, Home Health & Hospice of Dickinson County Director, provided a program on the history of hospice in Dickinson County. Beth Schmitt was honored for her 35 years of service as a volunteer with Hospice of Dickinson County. Other speakers at the banquet included Tony Geiger and Katie Simmons, who spoke about their experiences as hospice volunteers.

Hospice of Dickinson County is a local non-profit Hospice serving all of Dickinson County and 20-mile radius from Herington. Hospice of Dickinson County currently has approximately 45 volunteers but is always looking for more.
