Caring for the Abilene Community for 20 Years – William Short, M.D.

Memorial Health System would like to recognize Dr. William Short. For the past 20 years, Dr. Short has been caring for his friends and neighbors in the Abilene community.

Dr. Short is Memorial Hospital’s Chief Medical Officer, and a family medicine physician at Heartland Health Care Clinic. He has been a family medicine physician in Abilene since 2000, and has been the medical director of Home Health and Hospice of Dickinson County for the past seven years.

“Dr. Short’s kindness and humility when caring for patients, or working with staff makes him a true asset to the health system,” MHS CEO Harold Courtois said. “He’s been able to take on new roles, offer insight on committees, and is often the one that keeps everyone smiling and laughing.”

Dr. Short received his Doctor of Medicine in 1997 from the University of Kansas School of Medicine, Kansas City, Kansas. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and the Hospice Medical Director Certification Board. Dr. Short is a member of the Dickinson County Medical Society, Kansas Medical Society, and the American Academy of Family Physicians.
