Did you know?
Behind heart disease and cancer, COPD is the third leading cause of death in the United States. Poor lung health increases the risks of complications if exposed to COVID, according to the American Lung Association. Pulmonary rehabilitation helps reduce exacerbations and hospitalizations associated with poor lung health.
About the Program
The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program at Memorial Hospital is a 12-week program. Patients are scheduled 2-3 times a week with a care plan specifically created to their needs.
Pulmonary Rehab treatment plans include:
- Education about your specific lung disease.
- Individualized exercise regimen targeted to improve shortness of breath so you may return to performing your daily activities.
- Medication management.
- Breathing techniques.
- Diet and nutrition.
- Energy conservation.
Your physician will receive an updated report on your progress every 30 days.
Chronic lung disease is treatable. Pulmonary rehabilitation can not only significantly improve your quality of life, but this short treatment can also save you from unnecessary costs that you may incur over time associated with your healthcare.
