Hope Lives is more than a breast cancer awareness event, it is a powerful movement of women supporting women right here in our community. Each October, Hope Lives brings together survivors, families, friends, and local businesses to raise awareness and critical funds for breast health initiatives in Dickinson County.
Proceeds from Hope Lives help fund the Free Mammogram Program through Memorial Health System’s Radiology & Imaging Services, providing no-cost mammograms to uninsured and underinsured individuals in our community. Funds also support the Elsie Brooks Memorial Cancer Fund, helping offset care expenses for those undergoing treatment.
In addition to raising awareness, Hope Lives launched the Hope Lives Chairs program, a free resource for women recovering from mastectomy surgery. These specially designed recovery chairs travel from woman to woman, offering comfort, independence, and encouragement during the healing process. Each chair carries with it a journal filled with shared stories of strength and support, along with a handmade pillow from the Memorial Health System Volunteer Corps.
Year after year, Hope Lives continues to grow, raising thousands of dollars that stay local and directly impact the lives of women and families in Dickinson County. Together, we rally. Together, we give hope. Together, we ensure that hope truly lives.
