Welcome to Frontier Estates, a caring and affordable senior housing community in Abilene. Owned by Abilene Housing, Inc. and managed by Memorial Health System, we offer HUD-assisted independent living for adults 62+ who meet income guidelines.

Since 1978, Frontier Estates has provided a safe, comfortable home with 60 one-bedroom apartments that include utilities. Our convenient location near clinics, specialists, and Memorial Hospital ensures peace of mind and easy access to care. Residents enjoy a variety of programs, activities, and services designed to enrich their lives while maintaining independence, privacy, and dignity. Security is a priority.  Guests register upon arrival, the combination door locks at 5:00 PM, and residents receive a key-code for after-hours access.

Transportation Offered

Abilene General Public Transportation is operated by OCCK. This service allows Frontier Estates tenants the freedom to be transported to their specified destination for a roundtrip fee of $4.00 (Please note: Fee is subject to change). The van picks up residents in front of Frontier Estates and is handicapped accessible.

Twenty-four hour notice prior to a pick-up time is appreciated.
Please call OCCK at (785) 826-1583 or 855-577-4337, option 3 for Abilene to schedule a pick-up time or for more information.

Those with limited mobility need to be accompanied by an aide. The person assisting can ride free of charge.
