Herington Hero Award, Kay Brunner

By Haley Jones, Director of Development and Marketing

Home Health & Hospice of Dickinson County in Herington, an affiliate of Memorial Health System in Abilene, has selected the next Herington Hero.  Congratulations, Kay Brunner and thank you for taking care of Herington!

Memorial Health System, and the staff from the Herington office, have felt overwhelmed with joy when reading the nominations that come in.  “Herington has some amazing people who give so much of themselves to the community.  The initial reason to find the heroes in Herington was to reward these individuals, but over the last few months, we at Home Health & Hospice feel like we are getting a reward as well by getting to meet these incredible heroes in person!”, said Shannon Walters, Nurse Supervisor with Home Health Hospice of Dickinson County.

Kay’s nomination had this to say about her.  “Kay Brunner is THE Kay of Kay’s Pharmacy.  She provides.  She also volunteers at her church and, in the past, she spent many years volunteering at the Herington Hospital.  On top of the endless hours of time she has given to her community, Kay has also provided free back-to-school supplies, Christmas giveaways,  meals for funerals, and assisted families in need during the holidays.  She has helped people who are physically unable to mow their lawns and gives rides to people for their doctor appointments.  Kay helps with the Christian Church Christmas Program and makes the costumes for the children.  She also helps with vacation bible school each summer.  Kay inspires others in the community because she goes above and beyond for anyone who needs help.  She does all this service joyfully and humbly and never seeks praise for herself.  She does everything to glorify Christ and his Kingdom.”
